Electrical Power Systems Specialist

Join the Army National Guard and embark on a rewarding career as an Electrical Power Systems Specialist. This role is perfect for those with a passion for electricity and working with large machinery. As an Electrical Power Systems Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the Army National Guard's operations run smoothly by performing preventive maintenance checks on generation equipment, replacing voltage regulators, governors, or circuit cards, and adjusting frequencies and voltages using technical publications to enhance equipment efficiency.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on various types of equipment, including tactical utility, precise power-generation sets, internal combustion engines, and associated equipment. Your skills will also be honed in generator and powerplant operations, electrical generation and distribution, diesel generator operation, disassembly, inspection, and maintenance, and principles of electrical and electronic circuitry.
As an Electrical Power Systems Specialist, you will be part of a team that works together to ensure the Army National Guard's operations are successful. You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with opportunities for advancement and growth. In addition to your regular paycheck, you will also receive paid training, a monthly paycheck, Montgomery GI Bill, Federal and State tuition assistance, retirement benefits for part-time service, low-cost life insurance, 401(k)-type savings plan, Student Loan Repayment Program, health care benefits, VA home loans, and bonuses.
To be eligible for this role, you must be between the ages of 17 and 35, have a high school diploma or GED certificate, and be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards. You must also meet citizenship requirements.
As an Electrical Power Systems Specialist, you will have the opportunity to develop the skills and experience to enjoy a civilian career as a power plant electrician. With your training, you will be able to work in a variety of settings, including power plants, factories, and construction sites. Your skills will also be transferable to other roles in the electrical and electronics industry.
With the Army National Guard, you will have the opportunity to earn while you learn. Instead of paying to learn these skills, you will get paid to train. In addition to your regular paycheck, you will also receive tuition assistance and other benefits. This is a great opportunity to start your career in the electrical and electronics industry while also serving your country.
Salary: $200-$250 per drill weekend, subject to change.
