Experience Director for Diabetes Device Innovation

We are seeking an accomplished Experience Director to spearhead diabetes device innovation at Medtronic. This pivotal role demands a deep understanding of human-centered design and the ability to translate this expertise into cutting-edge solutions.
The chosen candidate will lead a multidisciplinary team in crafting user experiences that revolutionize care for patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. With a strong portfolio of work showcasing exceptional design solutions, the successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the future of diabetes device technology.
About the Role- Develop UI design for mobile apps that harmonize patient, caregiver, and business needs, align with UX strategy, and ensure technical feasibility.
- Pursue ongoing learning and growth in UX and UI design, leveraging best practices to drive innovation.
- Foster a design process that is scalable, consistent, efficient, and collaborative across teams.
- Collaborate closely with product leads, design teams, and development programs to define design goals and efforts.
- Leverage Human-Centered Design, Outcome Driven Innovation (ODI), and similar methodologies to guide UI design creation.
- Participate in exploratory processes to identify user needs and opportunities to satisfy those needs.
- Engage directly with users through human-centered design techniques, including observational research, interviews, and concept testing to uncover needs, learn about user behavior, and explore design concepts.
- Oversee the creation of interactive prototypes for mobile apps.
- Lead project definition activities, such as workshops and requirements sessions.
- Contribute to usability testing of prototypes, documenting findings and making design recommendations.
- Create design specs (user flows, prototypes, user interface design specifications) to communicate concepts and designs to internal partners.
- Collaborate with developers to maintain design intent and bring concepts to life.
- Support the creation and maintenance of a library of design elements to ensure reusable, proven, and tested patterns are clearly documented and consistently implemented.
- Navigate regulated product development processes to deliver design intent addressing user and business needs.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience designing consumer-level mobile and web applications.
- Thorough understanding of User Experience and User Interface Design principles.
- Experience with UX design of enterprise B2B software, including responsive sites and enterprise software.
- Experience conducting user testing/user research.
- Experience creating experience frameworks to structure user research insights – e.g., user journeys, service blueprints, affinity diagrams, value proposition canvas.
- Experience designing to Section 508/WCAG 2.0 accessibility guidelines.
- Experience designing for internationalization and supporting localization.
- Working knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript/XML.
- Familiarity with applying scalable UI design systems.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization.
- Strong communication skills in written, verbal, and visual formats, with ease in communicating with technical and non-technical team members.
- Capacity to quickly understand and become proficient in domain knowledge.
- Working knowledge of diabetes therapy, clinical data, business plans, and competitive products.
- Medical device and/or previous Medtronic experience.
We offer a highly competitive salary and flexible benefits package designed to support your career growth and well-being. The estimated salary range for this position in the U.S. is $142,400 - $213,600. In addition, you may be eligible for our Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
