Position Summary

As a Metrologist at KI Industries Inc., you will be integral in conducting precise layouts to guarantee that customer sampling submissions align with contractual standards regarding accuracy, timeliness, and thoroughness. This role requires proficiency in calibration of measuring instruments and related methodologies, providing a unique opportunity for career advancement in a rapidly changing industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct and document part layouts, capability assessments, and gauge repeatability and reproducibility studies.
  • Ensure fit, form, and function meet customer and company specifications.
  • Oversee all instruments within the KI Calibration management software, ensuring timely calibration of in-house gauges and coordinating third-party calibration schedules.
  • Deliver weekly updates to the Quality Manager to ensure that all gauges requiring external calibration are processed promptly to avoid delays in product shipping.
  • Maintain the gauge log and procure gauges as necessary for both KI and its suppliers.
  • Participate in meetings as directed by the Quality Manager.
  • Communicate effectively with departmental leadership to facilitate proactive engagement with customers and suppliers.
  • Execute specialized metrology projects as needed by KI, suppliers, and customers.
Qualifications
  • Familiarity with various quality measurement devices, including video and contact CMMs, CMM software such as PC-DMIS, handheld gauges, and color measurement tools (e.g., Spectrophotometers).
  • Ability to apply GD&T principles in interpreting engineering requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, spreadsheets, calibration tools, Outlook, and other software solutions.
  • Detail-oriented in data processing, record-keeping, and tabulation.
  • Skilled in blueprint interpretation.
  • Knowledgeable about registered specifications (ASTM, MIL, etc.), as well as non-destructive and destructive testing methods.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management System standards and their applicable requirements.
Education
  • High School Diploma or relevant experience in metrology.
