Workforce Developer

Special Service for Groups, Inc- HOPICS is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Employment Services Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing employment readiness and placement services to individuals, with a focus on maximizing their strengths, interests, and abilities to obtain and maintain employment.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the Employment Specialist to collect, interview, and assess client information regarding education, previous employment experience, skills, interest, qualifications, and personal information.
- Administer Tier Job Assessment to gather further information about the client's aptitude and refer clients to appropriate employment opportunities.
- Assist clients with identifying possible career options and providing job placement assistance.
- Linking clients with the local Work Source Center.
- Assist clients with developing and assembling information for and the completion of job applications and resumes.
- Draws from existing contacts and continuously cultivates and maintains a network of prospective employers to initiate and promote the placement of HOPICS clients.
- Conducts cold calls to potential employers.
- Travel to various worksites to outreach to/ recruit prospective employers; and/or drive clients to interviews, job fairs, or other agencies to obtain necessary documents for employment.
- Establish rapport with clients and employers to aid in successful achievement of client and contractual goals.
- Meet with employees/employers to discuss performance and offer suggestions for improvement when necessary.
- Coordinate and host four (4) Hiring Fairs a year.
- Coordinate with local community colleges and vocational schools and host a total of three (3) Vocational Careers Fair a year.
- Identify additional resources to leverage employment placement support and training.
- Identify and develop relationships with local city and county libraries to provide additional resources for clients.
- Attend all case management case conference meetings.
- Assist individuals participating in Employment Services create a Career Plan.
- Works in collaboration with the Southeast Los Angeles WorkSource Portal to prepare and equip participants to be top candidates for job vacancies, help people who are underemployed access living wage jobs, prepare and support people who are unemployed to secure jobs, help people improve job retention, connect participants to job training, vocational training and apprenticeship programs.
- Facilitate Job Readiness Classes (in person and virtually) two times per week for 4-hours each session and will cover: Soft Skills Development, Resume Development, Job Search, Interview Techniques, including mock interviews, Workplace Behavior and Presentation, Job Retention, Identifying Strengths and Opportunities for Growth.
- Conduct Monthly Individuals Sessions with SSG/HOPICS Employment Specialists to provide one-on-one support to participants to address job search challenges, provide individual coaching, discuss job retention issues, provide linkages, and review the Career Development Plan.
- Facilitate Job Circles as a one-hour support group session weekly at minimum as a job retention tool and opportunity for participants to share and support one another through real time challenges in the workplace.
- Provide Linkages and Referrals to vocational training opportunities as a part of helping participants achieve their Career Development Plan objectives.
- Responsible for Employer Engagement and Maintenance to create more job opportunities and help remove barriers to employment for participants. This activity also includes maintenance of relationships by SSG/HOPICS staff being available to employers in the event issues arise in the workplace with one of the participants we placed.
- Provide support for education related activities to help with career advancement.
- Work collaboratively with the Program Coordinator to publish a monthly Employment Department Newsletter.
- Assist with training the Employment Specialist.
- Collaborate with the CBEST Program Manager to create and implement the Ticket to Work Job Placement Program at HOPICS.
- Develop and maintain a relationship with the SouthBay Investment Workforce Board to create an pathway to entrepreneurship for participants with the goal of becoming a small business owner.
- Develop and maintain current industry specific data on employers, labor market trends, placements, program outcomes, sources of service, and current job openings/leads.
- Assist with the coordination and implementation referrals and linkage system with internal programs and other agencies.
- Provide Quality Assurance to ensure orderly and updated files (paper and electronic- scanning).
- Communicate and coordinate with community agencies for needed client services.
- Supervise client's progress and provide follow up services up to 6 months after they exit program.
- Outreach and develop working relationships with other agencies whose services will be beneficial to clients.
- Track Agency's compliance with performance targets.
- Assist in trainings and provide support to necessary staff, providers, and other project partners participating in project.
- Enter case notes into CHAMP and HMIS within 48 hours of client encounter.
- Submit weekly report on referrals and placements every Friday.
- Required to monitor and reinforce client progress and noncompliance report issues as they arise and document as needed (behavioral contract; termination forms; progress notes).
- Represent HOPICS in the community (HOPICS sponsored outreach events/meetings; community provider sponsored outreach events/meetings).
- Contribute to the obtainment of all contractual performance targets and the obtainment of division wide goals and performance outcomes.
- Attend required trainings.
- Maintain appropriate boundaries and adhere to SSG's Code of Ethics and HOPICS' Core Values.
- Represent the Agency in a professional manner at meetings and community events.
- Maintain files/records on client services in compliance with HIPAA & CFR42 and other funding requirements for auditing purposes.
- Regular attendance required.
- Other duties as needed.
