Job Summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) is seeking an experienced oncology nurse to join our team as a New-to-Specialty Registered Nurse. This role is specifically designed for nurses with no previous experience in adult ambulatory oncology, providing a unique opportunity for professional growth and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Planning: Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments of patients, evaluating their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Develop and implement individualized plans of care based on patients' disease, symptoms, and response to treatment.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients, families, and caregivers on disease processes, treatment options, side effects, and symptom management.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Coordinate with the inter-disciplinary team to ensure continuity of care, referring patients to other clinical resources as needed.
  • Implementation and Evaluation: Implement, evaluate, and modify plans of care, integrating research and evidence-based knowledge into clinical practice.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Licensure: Current Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license or multistate RN license.
  • Certifications: Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course) and renewal required every two years.
  • Skills: Critical thinking skills, ability to exercise clinical judgment, and effective communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Experience: 2+ years of nursing experience working closely with interdisciplinary team members in complex care settings.
