Job Summary

Amentum is seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Mechanic I to join our team in supporting the maintenance and repair of RPA systems. As a key member of our deployment pool, you will be required to support deployments to various locations, both within the continental United States (CONUS) and outside of the continental United States (OCONUS), as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and inspect organizational and intermediate level maintenance and modifications on RPA systems and support equipment, as required.
  • Support aircraft utilization and maintenance activity schedules, maintaining accurate parts inventory during all maintenance activities.
  • Service, repair, and overhaul aircraft equipment, engines, and sub-systems to ensure serviceability.
  • Inspect and repair power plant malfunctions, including cracked components, oil leaks, etc.
  • Diagnose malfunctions, isolate causes, and correct breaks, testing engine operations using testing equipment to locate sources of malfunction.
  • Remove engine and major components from aircraft equipment, using hoist or other lifting devices, and disassemble and inspect parts for wear, warping, or other defects.
  • Repair and replace defective engine components, reassemble, and install engines in aircraft.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace instruments, flight control, electrical/electronic, fuel/oil systems, and aircraft accessories.
  • Perform aircraft and vehicle services, including engine wash/cleaning, parts lubrication, and maintenance checks.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or completion of relevant military and/or vocational technical school curriculum.
  • Minimum of one year of actual Aircraft Mechanic maintenance experience required.
  • Basic knowledge of basic and complex mechanical maintenance and repair.
  • Basic knowledge of technical publications related to aircraft mechanical maintenance.
  • Theory and principles of operation of engines, accessories, and components, theory of flight, and electronic flight controls.
  • Ability to inspect and operate ground support and auxiliary equipment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and/or wear Military Issued Equipment in excess of 50 pounds for extended periods.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Active Secret US Government Clearance within the last 12 months.
  • Current/active State Issued Driver's License.
  • Valid U.S. Passport with a minimum of two years remaining with at least two facing pairs (four total) of blank Visa pages.
  • Fully COVID-19 vaccinated with booster.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree in a relevant career field.
  • Licensed by the FAA as an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic.
  • RPA Deployment Experience.
  • Prior Experience as a Defense Contractor.
  • Aircraft Mechanic Experience within the last 10 years.
  • MQ-9 Experience as an Aircraft Mechanic.
  • MQ-9 Aircraft Composite Repair / Replacement Experience.
