Job Title: Assistant Professor of Psychology

Richard Bland College is seeking an exceptional Psychology Professor to serve in a full-time position. The primary role of this position is to provide college-level instruction and academic-related activities designed to encourage, support, and enable student success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teaching psychology courses, including Psychology survey courses, Developmental Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Human Sexuality, and other psychology courses in accordance with college policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate competency and commitment to continuous professional development in the learning environment that would contribute to student success.
  • Teaching in-seat instruction and/or online instruction for courses on campus or with our high school partners.
  • Maintaining school-determined office hours per week for each class.
  • Ensuring timely management and response to electronic correspondence from students, administrators, and other school officials.
  • Engaging students in relevant discussion and coursework.
  • Maintaining and submitting accurate and timely reports for student grades/progress.
  • Delivering mid-term and final grades in accordance with the academic calendar.
  • Enforcing student conduct policies as outlined in the College Catalog.
  • Completing other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Master of Science degree from an accredited institution in psychology or a master's degree in any field with eighteen (18) graduate credit hours in psychology.
  • Experience teaching Psychology at college or high school level.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the characteristics and challenges of first- and second-year college students.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff, students, and faculty.
  • Use relevant technology and learning management systems to effectively facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication.
  • Develop and adapt teaching and learning strategies to accommodate traditional and non-traditional students with diverse backgrounds and varied academic competencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A relevant terminal degree (Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) in Psychology or a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD)).
  • At least two years of experience teaching in a higher education environment, preferably at the junior college/community college level.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness, including the ability to effectively respond to the academic needs of learners from diverse backgrounds, identities, and experiences.
