Job Title: Kitchen Operations Manager

Job Summary:

The Kitchen Operations Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the N1 commercial production kitchen, producing meals according to government guidelines for federally reimbursable meal programs. The ideal candidate will create and execute production schedules to facilitate on-time meal delivery, expediting hot and cold meal components. They will maintain operations, flow, and efficiency in the kitchen for all employees, with a focus on changing lives and shaping culture through servant leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of a catering kitchen with a high volume of meals.
  • Direct all kitchen staff accordingly, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Proficiency in all cooking procedures, especially TCS (time-controlled for safety) foods.
  • Maintain and revise the company HACCP plan and N1 Production Kitchen SOPs annually.
  • Understand and supervise production of food for children with meal restrictions.
  • Manage strict, time-sensitive workflows.
  • Assist with maintaining food cost and labor management goals with the Regional Director.
  • Coordinate and hire vendors for necessary kitchen maintenance.
  • Optimize warehouse layout, track inventory levels, and ensure timely order fulfillment to meet customer requirements.
  • Place daily food and supply orders with appropriate vendors.
  • Coordinate specific job training in compliance with regulatory bodies such as the Health Department and OSHA.
  • Oversee the production of tastings for potential clients.
  • Facilitate and organize all performance reviews for all staff.
  • While following a budget for payroll, create weekly schedules and authorize all leave for N1 kitchen employees appropriately.
  • Mentor employees and encourage them to grow in their roles and with the company.
  • Assist the Regional Director with employee corrective action procedures.
  • Inform N1 employees of new policies via Slack, email, text, or in person.
  • Coordinate application, interview, recruitment, and training of N1 new hires with HR.
  • Create and/or revise company training materials annually for their department.
  • Maintain and track their team's food handler's cards using an Excel sheet and binder system.
  • Use and maintain the Master Annual Calendar.
  • Build and maintain a healthy Company Culture.
  • Understand, uphold, and enforce company handbook.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years prior experience managing teams of 20 or more in the food service industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of convection ovens, pressure kettles, and emulsifiers.
  • Capable team management in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Detail-oriented and solutions-based decision-making skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Strong math, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with inventory management and ordering ingredients.
  • Kitchen Manager ServeSafe Certificate.
  • Must be dependable and able to work early in the mornings.
  • Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Read, write, and understand English for recipe comprehension and communication with teams.

Physical Requirements:

  • Routinely: lift 50+ pounds, stand for 6+ hours, walk, bend, squat, be exposed to extreme heat/cold, operate commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Comfortable working in office, kitchen, and school environments.
  • Ability to navigate various locations and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Able to maintain focus and direct team focus in a high noise, stimulating environment.

Preferences:

  • Bilingual Spanish Speaker.
  • Food Service/Culinary Degree.
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Previous experience with ADP Workforce Now App.
  • Level 1 IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Salary Range:

FLSA Classification – Non-Exempt

$23.07-$25.48 ($48,000-$53,000)
