Job Overview

The Moran Company is seeking a seasoned professional to lead the development and implementation of strategies for global membership growth and retention as Managing Director, Member Services. This key role reports to the CEO/Executive Director and manages a team of 18 professionals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in association management, with experience in developing and executing membership programs that drive value and engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to grow and retain ICMA members, increasing the value proposition of membership through targeted programming and services.
  • Oversight of all membership programs, benefits, and services, including career advancement, ethics, relationship management, member recruitment, and board committee support.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members, prospective members, and other key stakeholders through regular travel and meetings.
  • Monitor and assess member feedback, addressing concerns and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to increase membership numbers and diversify the membership base.
  • Utilize data-driven approaches to continuously improve membership and engagement, tracking and reporting on key metrics and program effectiveness.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in public administration, public policy, business administration, or related field.
  • At least 8 years of progressive leadership experience in association management or local government management, with a focus on membership organizations and global business models.
  • Exceptional business acumen, strategic thinking, and ability to drive results-oriented initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, emotional resilience, and servant leadership approach.
  • Ability to model transparency, collaboration, and diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
  • Competencies include business acumen, servant leadership, results-driven, innovative, financial management, visionary, collaboration skills, and excellent communication skills.

Compensation and Benefits:

The estimated salary range for this position is $170,000 to $180,000 per year, depending on experience. The Moran Company offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement savings plan. Annual leave, sick leave, and holidays are also provided.
