Brooklyn, New York, United States National Grid USA Full time
About Us

National Grid is seeking a Senior Program Manager for Organizational Transformation.

Every day, we ensure the safe and reliable delivery of energy to households, communities, and businesses. We are there when our customers need us the most, connecting them to the energy that powers their lives. As societal and industry changes accelerate, our expertise positions us uniquely to influence the sustainable future of our sector.

To thrive, we must anticipate our customers' needs, reduce energy delivery costs today, and innovate flexible energy systems for tomorrow. This requires us to fulfill our commitments while continuously seeking new avenues for growth, both personally and organizationally.

Job Purpose

National Grid is at the forefront of the clean energy transition, having articulated its vision for a clean, equitable, and affordable energy future by 2050. Achieving this vision necessitates the construction of a smarter, more resilient, and cleaner energy system. This involves rethinking our operational methods and implementing new processes and technologies. The successful adoption of these changes is vital to our mission, and that is where your expertise will be invaluable.

Our success hinges on our ability to:

  • Engage and prepare our workforce for upcoming changes.
  • Assist leadership in generating momentum and securing buy-in throughout their organizations.
  • Establish connections that drive commitment and urgency towards a significant clean energy transition, often described as a generational shift.

As the Senior Program Manager for Organizational Transformation, reporting to the Strategy & Transformation office aligned with the Electric business, you will play a pivotal role in preparing the organization for change. Building strong relationships within the NY business will be essential, as you will be regarded as a trusted advisor capable of aligning and proactively responding to business priorities.

While the key responsibilities outlined below are akin to those of a Lead Program Manager, this role demands a high degree of independence in a consulting capacity, enabling you to identify engagement opportunities and think strategically about partnerships, adapting as priorities and leadership requests evolve while delivering high-quality results swiftly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders across the NY business to facilitate their adaptation to new operational methods and embrace transformational objectives, guided by NY leadership.
  • Implement changes of varying scales as a sole change resource, leveraging resources across the organization through effective networking and stakeholder management.
  • Partner with internal and external specialists to design, develop, and execute targeted communication campaigns centered around key themes related to our transformation.
  • Consult, mentor, and coach leadership across the enterprise as they create and implement their own change initiatives and guide their teams through transitions.
  • Manage advocacy at executive and stakeholder levels to cultivate support for change initiatives.
  • Provide impacted businesses with relevant information and detailed frameworks to ensure they can undertake necessary actions to mitigate organizational risks.
  • Contribute to the definition and maintenance of the National Grid change methodology and standard templates.
  • Collaborate with change practitioners across the organization to share best practices and lessons learned, fostering a standardized approach to change delivery.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and 4+ years of experience in change management, ideally encompassing both technology/process-driven changes and broader enterprise-level changes related to behaviors, cultures, and mindsets.
  • Project/Program Management and Change Management certifications are highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of deploying innovative engagement solutions and recognized as an expert communicator, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking capabilities, with the ability to identify, translate, and act on emerging priorities, supported by a solid performance-driven background.
  • Self-motivated and performance-oriented, with the ability to thrive in ambiguous situations.
  • Strong performance orientation and metrics-driven mindset.
  • Sound knowledge of the NY Business, with a deeper understanding of the Electric sector being advantageous.
  • Effective facilitator, comfortable presenting to both small and large groups, in-person and virtually.
  • Emotionally intelligent and self-aware, capable of building rapport and adapting style to suit diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent MS PowerPoint skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives through presentations.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A strong team player, grounded in trust and respect, who values the collective strength of the team and can adapt to support others while fostering a positive work environment.
