Job Overview

This position is for the District Manager role at the Bureau of Land Management. The District Manager plays a crucial role in leading, inspiring, and guiding the implementation of multi-use management strategies in accordance with agency regulations.

Key Responsibilities

The District Manager is responsible for the overall direction, execution, and assessment of all activities within the District. They interpret policies from the Department of Interior and BLM, make final decisions regarding planning and programming, and develop the District's vision and strategy. Additionally, the Manager provides advice to the State Director on policies and programs statewide.

Employment Conditions

  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Completion of a background investigation and drug screening is mandatory

  • Active real estate licenses or interests in firms with federal land interests are not permitted
  • New employees must complete a one-year probationary period
Qualifications

Applicants should possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service. Time-in-grade requirements are applicable.

Educational Requirements

No educational qualifications can substitute for experience at the specified grade levels.

Additional Information
  • Selected candidates will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program
  • A valid state driver's license must be obtained and maintained
  • This position may require overnight travel up to five nights per month
Physical Requirements

Work may occur in an office environment but also under challenging field conditions, including extreme temperatures. Travel may involve navigating rough terrain and utilizing various modes of transportation.

Work Environment

Most tasks will be performed in an office setting, with fieldwork that may include walking or driving in remote locations. Situations involving abnormal stress may arise.

Telework Options

This position is eligible for telework, subject to supervisor approval.
