Position Overview:
The Accounts Receivable Staff Accountant at USI Insurance Services plays a crucial role in managing commission collections, assessing bad debt allowances, and executing monthly reconciliations for the Corporate Accounting Center.
This position entails overseeing the daily operations related to the collection of commission payments owed to the agency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with insurance providers to guarantee prompt payment of collected items.
- Generate and manage dunning notices and statements.
- Conduct monthly discussions with larger carriers as necessary.
- Perform thorough account reconciliations to identify billing discrepancies and coordinate with the account management team for resolution.
- Identify and address issues related to carrier payments, collaborating with the Direct Bill Staff to resolve matters such as ACH remittances, name changes, or contract modifications.
- Work alongside the Direct Bill team to reconcile items on remittance statements.
- Strive to minimize overall balances on a quarterly basis.
- Engage in monthly calls with regional management to review ongoing regional issues.
- Analyze aged receivables to determine suitable resolutions for outstanding items, including:
- Small balance write-offs.
- Year-end balance adjustments.
- Monthly clean-up for cash basis revenue.
- Assist in calculating Direct Bill allowances.
- Communicate any pertinent issues to the management team as required.
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of progressive experience in an accounts receivable department with a focus on account reconciliation is essential; an AS/BA/BS degree is advantageous.
- Experience in the insurance sector and direct billing is preferred.
- Background in commercial collections is desirable.
- Demonstrated strong work ethic and a defined sense of urgency.
- Self-motivated and organized individual who thrives in a collaborative environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to retain relevant information.
- Proficiency in MS Office and Excel is required.
- Solid understanding of general accounting principles.
- Accurate and efficient data entry skills.
