Job Summary and Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY:

The Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for delivering direct nursing care as assigned by the OR Charge Nurse and/or OR Director, in accordance with established policies and procedures of Las Palmas Medical Center.

In collaboration with the patient, their family, and other healthcare team members, the Surgical RN assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and coordinates surgical treatment plans.

The Surgical RN provides professional nursing care to surgical patients using the nursing process; collaborates and coordinates with other surgical team members, including physicians, to ensure quality healthcare before, during, and immediately after surgical procedures.

The Surgical RN is responsible for ensuring that the surgical procedure is adequately prepared and guarantees quality care for the patient. The Surgical RN facilitates, coordinates, and directs the assigned surgical procedure.

The Surgical RN is also responsible for fostering and maintaining positive working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.


What qualifications you will need:
REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS
- Current RN licensure in Texas or a compact state. Required.
- Current BLS certification. Required.
- Current ACLS certification. Required within 6 months of hire or immediately if an experienced RN.
- Current PALS certification. Required within 6 months of hire or immediately if an experienced RN.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
- Preferred two years of operating room experience or two years of critical care experience.
- CNOR, NAL, TNCC desired.
