The Nurse Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the Department and Nurse Managers by overseeing the managerial functions of specialized surgical practices within the Operating Room. This includes managing the surgical schedule for the service line, as well as ordering and maintaining necessary inventory related to the service line. The Coordinator is responsible for keeping OR and hospital protocols up to date and reporting quality metrics as required.
The role also involves delivering clinical care to patients, employing the nursing process effectively. The Nurse Coordinator is expected to apply professional nursing knowledge to provide age-appropriate care grounded in scientific principles and nursing standards, tailored to the specific patient population.
Essential Qualifications:
Experience:
A minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse is required, ideally within a hospital-based acute care environment.
Licensure/Certification:
Must possess a current TX/Compact RN License.
CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications are mandatory.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required.
Must meet unit-specific educational requirements as outlined in Policy NC-A-7.4.
Key Skills:
Proven expertise in acute care nursing.Strong oral and written communication abilities.Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.Ability to read and understand English at a level necessary for following written and oral instructions and safety protocols.Competence in supervising and evaluating team members.Capacity to build effective working relationships and foster teamwork.Aptitude for conflict resolution and negotiation.Openness to managing change effectively.Analytical skills for problem-solving.Proficiency in using computer systems and relevant software applications.Familiarity with surgical terminology, equipment, and policies/procedures.Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.Effective interpersonal relationship skills.Ability to utilize computers for documentation.Technical competence in nursing tasks within the Registered Nurse scope of practice.Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.Ability to read and comprehend English necessary for following written and oral instructions and safety precautions.PI
