Director of Strategic Vendor Partnerships

The Director of Vendor Management is a key leadership role responsible for establishing and overseeing the strategic direction and operational execution of the Vendor Management Office (VMO). This role will lead the development and implementation of policies, processes, and best practices for managing vendor relationships across the entire organization, ensuring compliance, risk mitigation, and value optimization.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a vendor management group by communicating with and developing staff members, and building consensus for programs and goals that support a business, function, or geographic area.
- Develop and articulate a short-term strategic vision for areas of responsibility.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive vendor management strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives.
- Establish and manage a robust vendor governance framework, including vendor risk assessment, due diligence, contract negotiation, and performance management.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors, ensuring collaboration, communication, and proactive issue resolution.
- Design and implement policies, processes, and procedures for vendor onboarding, contract management, performance monitoring, and issue escalation.
- Evaluate and implement appropriate technology solutions to automate and streamline vendor management processes.
- Lead and develop a high-performing vendor management team, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to vendor performance, compliance, and cost optimization.
- Regularly report findings and insights to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practices in vendor management. Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks related to vendor engagement.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in vendor management and continuously seek opportunities to enhance the VMO's effectiveness.
- Work on complex matters where analysis of issues, data, processes, and situations require advanced knowledge of functional objectives and industry/technical knowledge which may have long-term impact.
- Responsible for directing staffing appropriately for department(s) and collaborating with HR to fulfill requirements.
- Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- 8-12 years of relevant experience and 7+ years of leadership/management experience, required.
- Master's Degree, preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in vendor management, procurement, or a related field.
- Proven experience leading and managing a vendor management team, including offshore vendors.
- Strong understanding of vendor risk management, contract negotiation, and performance evaluation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams across all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in vendor management software and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to drive results and achieve strategic objectives.
