Role Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineer plays a crucial role in the design and optimization of production processes. This position involves the development of work instructions, tooling, fixtures, and equipment essential for the efficient manufacturing of products. The engineer will also evaluate designs and processes to identify opportunities for enhancement and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement production methodologies and cell configurations, including layouts and build documentation for various products.
  • Coordinate the procurement of necessary equipment and tooling to support manufacturing operations.
  • Establish and uphold production standards to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Assist in diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, as well as testing failures.
  • Analyze engineering drawings to assess manufacturability and create engineering change orders as needed.
  • Oversee and assess acceptance testing to confirm product performance and testing accuracy.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities within designs and processes.
  • Generate manufacturing bills of materials derived from engineering specifications.
  • Conduct or supervise testing on new products, including but not limited to vibration, thermal, environmental, and duty cycle assessments.
  • Develop test plans and compile comprehensive test reports.
  • Perform audits across various departments within the organization.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering is required, along with 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering capacity. Candidates with no experience must possess relevant internships or coursework in aerospace manufacturing or a related field. Proficiency in CAD software (such as Creo or equivalent) and familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles are essential. The ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with hands-on tasks and to effectively communicate with a diverse range of individuals, including technicians, machinists, suppliers, and clients, is crucial.

Preferred Skills:

Knowledge of machining processes and material properties related to component manufacturing is advantageous. Familiarity with electronic systems and circuits, experience with aircraft or military equipment, and understanding aerospace standards and regulations are preferred. Experience with AS9100 Quality Management Systems and auditing practices, as well as FAA/EASA certification experience, is a plus.
