Spiritual Care Extenders are a vital part of the USA Health team, providing emotional and spiritual support to patients, visitors, and staff. These dedicated volunteers serve as a unique opportunity for growth and experience in providing care to others.

As a Spiritual Care Extender, you will work closely with the Spiritual Care Department to provide support to individuals of all faiths. This role is similar to our volunteers who serve throughout the hospital but with specialized training in spiritual care.

To be eligible for this position, you must have specific ministry experience or education, or have completed at least one unit from a Clinical Pastoral Education program. Additionally, you must be currently enrolled in an educational program with a focus on spiritual and emotional care of others.

Once selected, you will be required to complete the 48-hour Pastoral Care Education program through the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education, or have at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education, and complete the training program provided by the USA Health Spiritual Care Manager.

As a Spiritual Care Extender, your hours will vary based on the needs of the department and your availability. All USA Health Volunteers must successfully complete a criminal background check.
