Overview
The AWM Mutual Fund Controllers team plays a crucial role in managing a variety of SEC registered investment entities, including both open-end and closed-end mutual funds, as well as ETFs. These investment vehicles encompass a diverse range of strategies and products in a dynamic market environment. The team is tasked with the accounting, finance, and treasury responsibilities associated with these funds.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the financial reporting process in collaboration with external legal advisors, auditors, and fund accounting agents.
- Develop and implement accounting policies while conducting financial statement analysis, with a solid understanding of US GAAP and IFRS.
- Establish and maintain a robust financial control framework, both internally and for external accounting agents of the funds.
- Conduct large-scale analytical assessments on various fund metrics essential for sales and marketing initiatives, corporate profitability, and portfolio management.
- Ensure the precision of Fund Net Asset Values through stringent control governance of external accounting agents.
- Manage and coordinate significant treasury functions for the funds.
- Analyze fund dividends, providing insights into movements and factors influencing these amounts.
- Assist in determining fund fees in alignment with the firm's pricing strategy for Registration Statements.
- Prepare comprehensive written materials for the Board of Trustees and senior management, including updates on regulatory requirements, accounting and treasury policies, and fund statistics.
- Drive strategic process improvements and new capabilities by collaborating with Technology teams, frequently engaging with proprietary and third-party systems.
- Act as a liaison with various departments, including portfolio management, tax, legal, and sales, regarding new product development and existing fund requirements.
- Research industry trends and share relevant insights with appropriate teams.
Qualifications
- Fundamental knowledge of financial products and general market trends.
- Exceptional analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
- Self-motivated individual capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly driven with strong interpersonal abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with analytical tools such as Tableau and Qlik is advantageous.
- 3-5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA/CFA preferred).
