Behavioral Support Associate

Job Summary:
At Children's Hospital & Research Center Oakland, we are seeking a skilled Behavioral Support Associate to join our Audiology Department. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the comfort and cooperation of patients during audiology testing, which can range from 15 minutes to one hour in duration.
The Behavioral Support Associate works closely with the audiologist to prepare and ready patients for all necessary testing. This includes collaborating with parents of patients to ensure a smooth experience. Effective communication skills are essential in this role, as the Behavioral Support Associate must be able to gauge the patient's comfort level and adjust the testing environment accordingly.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in child behavioral management, with a minimum of 6-12 months of experience preferred. Basic office/clerical skills are also a must, along with proficiency in using personal computers, copy machines, and fax machines.
The Behavioral Support Associate will be responsible for managing and maintaining patient files, answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, handling questions, and filing patient charts. This role requires flexibility, sensitivity, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
The Behavioral Support Associate will be required to sit for up to 6 hours per day, stand or walk for up to 6 hours, bend or stoop for up to 3 hours, and reach for up to 6 hours. The ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds is also required, with assistance or equipment available for heavier loads.
This role requires the ability to hear alarms, clients, and/or instructions, as well as the ability to see accurately from 20 inches to 20 feet.
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) retirement plan.
