Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Residency Nurse to join our team at DHR Health. As a Residency Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the growth and development of our nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide safe and effective nursing care to assigned patients utilizing the nursing process.
  • Practice nursing under the direct supervision of a registered nurse during the orientation period.
  • Assess patients' needs for nursing care and other services.
  • Collaborate with physicians, other services, patients, and patients' families to plan care and evaluate outcomes.
  • Improve practice by integrating results and theories of research studies and actively participate in data collection for current studies.
  • Demonstrate clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures, and managing emergencies.
  • Ensure integration of safety and quality standards into practice and delivery of team care.
  • Document care according to established standards.
  • Access, input, and retrieve information from computer systems.
  • Assure continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education, and coordination of services.
  • Act as a patient and family advocate in order to uphold patient rights.
  • Organize and prioritize work of patient care team.
  • Train, coach, and assist team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.
  • Effectively and consistently function in related roles as required, e.g., charge nurse, preceptor, or protocol manager.
Requirements
  • High School/GED required.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Temporary GN permit or RN license from the State of Texas prior to beginning employment required.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • ACLS or PALS certification within six (6) months after transfer into home-based department (as applicable to department).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Nights and/or weekend work will be required.
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • New graduate nurse or RN with less than 12 months of experience.
  • RN with limited or no hospital experience.
  • Knowledge of State, Federal, and JCAHO regulations.
