Job Title: Heavy Equipment Technician

Yahara Materials, Inc. is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. As a family-owned and operated company, we specialize in surface mining and processing of limestone rock and sand and gravel. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance on diesel engines and heavy equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Execute repairs on diesel engines and heavy equipment, including engine overhauls, transmission repairs, brake replacements, and hydraulic system repairs with little oversight.
  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential issues and prevent breakdowns.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed using company specified software and systems in place.
  • Always adhere to safety protocols and regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Collaborate with other team members to prioritize workload and ensure timely completion of repairs.
  • Stay up to date on advancements in diesel engine technology and heavy equipment maintenance techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Associates or technical degree in diesel mechanics.
  • Minimum of four years' experience.
  • Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams.
  • Ability to interpret oil samples.
  • Excellent trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality work.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift over 50 pounds and work in various weather conditions.
  • Knowledge tools and application of basic welding and fabrication techniques.
  • Valid driver's license with experience operating service truck equipped with crane.
  • Able to pass Department of Transportation drug screening.
  • MSHA training required.
