Position Overview

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the guidance of the Lead Educator, the Assistant Teacher Interns play a crucial role in supporting the Lead Teachers with lesson execution and classroom oversight, as well as providing daily care, supervision, and developmental learning for young children.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures the well-being of children, addressing their needs with respect and dignity.
  • Follows interaction protocols with educators.
  • Fosters and maintains a constructive relationship with parents and guardians.
  • Exhibits understanding and support of the program's philosophy, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborates with therapists and other specialists to promote each child's growth, making referrals when necessary.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment, including daily sanitization of toys, furniture, and equipment.
  • Assists in timely completion of developmental assessments, Individual Education Plans, weekly lesson outlines, progress documentation, and evaluations for each child.
  • Completes all mandatory training for educators and keeps certifications up to date, including First Aid and CPR.
  • Participates in all required staff, family support planning, parent, and committee meetings, documenting significant events and discussions.
  • Performs additional related tasks as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • High School Diploma or GED; CDA certification preferred.
  • Completion of 45 hours of Early Childhood Training as mandated by the Department of Children and Families.
  • Must successfully pass State and Local Criminal Background Checks as required by Childcare Licensing.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited AA or BA Early Childhood Education Program, providing proof of enrollment and transcripts each semester.
  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of appropriate child development.
  • Successfully completes state-required screenings, background checks, and reference checks.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
