Job Title: Academic Instructor - Education Specialist

**Job Summary:**

The Academic Instructor - Education Specialist will work with the Education Program Coordinator to support the goal of improving educational outcomes for students in foster care. The successful candidate will plan and organize daily activities of the Pulte Promise Learning Center (PPLC) and assess each youth to create individual learning plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete education assessments of youth.
  • Create individual education plans for youth, including daily/weekly lesson plan goals.
  • Establish a plan and method to deliver after-school homework help through the PPLC.
  • Assist in tracking in-school educational services and communicate educational progress with youth's teachers.
  • Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure a positive and therapeutic learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
  • Preferred 1 year of teaching or classroom experience.
  • Experience with developing lesson plans.
  • Current/Prior Temporary Teaching Certification or Professional Teaching Certification in the State of Florida preferred.

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of Department of Children and Families rules and regulations regarding the care of children.
  • Knowledge of child abuse or neglect reporting procedures.
  • Ability to model appropriate parenting skills.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors, and other individuals.

Work Environment:

The Academic Instructor - Education Specialist will work in a treatment center environment and may be exposed to verbal abuse and physical behavior. The successful candidate must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and must be able to pass a background check.
