Job Summary

This role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Community & Animal Support department at the Louisiana SPCA. The successful candidate will provide exceptional service and care for customers, manage staff, maintain animal records, and prepare monthly reports. The supervisor will report to the Community, Animal Support, & Fields Services Manager and collaborate with teams to deliver high-quality care and ensure a consistent flow-through of intake and adoptions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external customers and maintain high levels of customer engagement.
  • Value others' input and skills, involving them in critical thinking and decision-making.
  • Ensure quality services and experiences are provided to shelter clients, visitors, staff, and volunteers.
Requirements
  • Demonstrate compassion towards people and pets, analyzing data to evaluate programs and propose changes to meet departmental and organizational goals.
  • Regularly evaluate and improve intake and adoptions flow processes.
  • Collaborate with others to identify new adoption marketing opportunities, intake diversion strategies, and lost and found reunification efforts.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Two years of customer service experience required.
  • Proficiency in a second language is preferred but not required.
Minimum Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment substance screening.
  • Must have 2 years of demonstrated supervisory knowledge, including hiring and recruitment, development and delivery of training, and employee engagement and motivation.
  • Must have (or be able to obtain) a valid State of Louisiana driver's license.
  • Moderately competent in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, push and pull heavy objects, bend, twist, reach, and perform strenuous physical activities.
  • Should not be allergic to animals or nuts; must be able to work around all animals and nut products.
Working Conditions
  • Works in an area with a high noise level.
  • Potentially subject to animal bites and scratches.
