ER Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated ER Technician to join our team at Nuvance Health. As an ER Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our emergency department team.

1. Assist registered nurses and physicians with assessments, examinations, and treatment of patients.
2. Provide general nursing care, including positioning, lifting, turning, and assisting with ambulation.
3. Perform other duties as in-service, including crutch walking, dressing changes, and assisting with splint or cast application.
4. Adhere to hospital policy addressing standard precautions, safety regulations, and guidelines.
5. Assist patients from vehicles into wheelchairs or onto gurneys, as needed.
6. Take and record temperature, pulse, BP, and I&O.
7. Respond to patient and visitor questions and needs immediately and within established standards.
8. Maintain and prepare rooms between patients and procedures.
9. Properly assist with preparation of equipment for procedures.
10. Obtain IV supplies for registered nurses or physicians as requested.
11. Monitor stock and restock supplies as needed in the Emergency Department.
12. Transport patients and supplies to diagnostic departments and nursing units.
13. Prepare patients for meals and assist as necessary.
14. Participate in continuing education and departmental in-service meetings.
15. Maintain policies and procedures established by the department.
16. Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-services meetings, and workshops.
17. Document in records, procedures performed, and care given.
18. Obtain patient specimens.
19. Perform phlebotomy and EKGs.
20. Perform Quality Control (QC) on spec meter.
21. Clean supplies and instruments per procedure guidelines.
22. Assist in cost containment through the appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
23. Operate equipment safely and correctly.
24. Maintain a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians and hospital staff.

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience as EMT or CNA/PCT or Medical Assistant.

• Current BLS Certification.
• Current EMT-Basic or Paramedic Licenses.
• Medical terminology.
