About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sterile Processing Supervisor to join our team at UofL Health-University Hospital. As a key member of our Sterile Processing department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality patient care by supervising and instructing Sterile Processing Technicians in the performance of their duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and instruct Sterile Processing Technicians in the performance of job duties, including decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of reusable instruments, utensils, trays, carts, and equipment.
  • Assign daily work schedules for technicians and monitor work flow, prioritizing work and adjusting assignments as needed.
  • Complete monthly performance improvement assignments and staff competency checks.
  • Monitor all processing equipment and notify the appropriate repairperson when a malfunction occurs.
  • Effectively communicate with co-workers and all other hospital personnel, including answering telephone calls and assisting callers with obtaining items needed.
  • Assemble supplies and place them into case carts for scheduled and non-scheduled procedures.
  • Make rounds throughout the hospital and Brown Cancer Center to deliver sterile and non-sterile instrumentation, supplies, and equipment, and to pick-up contaminated or credit instrumentation, supplies, and equipment.
  • Deliver scheduled case carts to the Surgery Department.
  • Credit all supply items returned unused and with undamaged packaging.
  • Conserves organizational resources.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school graduate or equivalent.
  • CRCST and CIS Certification is mandatory.
  • CHL Certification must be obtained within 6 months of taking position.
  • Three years previous experience as a sterile processing or surgical tech required.
  • Manual dexterity is required; excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must display an exceptional level of organizational skills and proficient in problem solving and follow through.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to speak and read English is required.
