Nursing Assistant I

UNC Health Care is seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant I to join our team. As a Nursing Assistant I, you will provide direct and indirect patient care in a hospital setting, working under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
Responsibilities- Assist physicians and other healthcare providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergency situations.
- Observe, collect, and document patient information obtained while providing care and promptly report significant changes in the patient's condition to a registered nurse or physician.
- Provide assistance to patients and their families during admission to the clinical area, orientation to the hospital experience, and discharge.
- Provide care/treatments to patients as outlined in the plan of care, including vital sign measurement, specimen collection, skin preps/scrubs, catheter care, and patient and family interactions.
- Provide direct personal care to patients as outlined in the plan of care for routine activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting with ambulation.
- Provide indirect care to patients and assigned area, including cleaning the work area, changing linens, re-stocking supplies, and transporting patients/supplies/specimens.
- Must be listed as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Prefer six (6) months of nursing assistant experience.
- Fluent in verbal and written English language and able to develop basic computer skills.
This position is employed by UNC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System. This is not a State employed position.
