About the Position

The City of San Jose, CA is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the role of Parking Enforcement Officer. This position is responsible for enforcing parking regulations and ensuring public safety on the streets of San Jose.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned areas to enforce parking laws and regulations
  • Respond to complaints and issues related to parking and traffic
  • Provide education and information to the public about parking laws and regulations
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective enforcement and compliance
  • Work independently and as part of a team to achieve departmental goals
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of experience in employment requiring independent decision-making and considerable contact with the general public
  • Valid State of California driver's license
  • Ability to pass a formal San Jose Police Department Background Investigation
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and evenings
  • Ability to work on-call and overtime hours as required
Preferred Qualifications
  • College degree in a related field
  • Experience in law enforcement or a related field
  • Knowledge of parking laws and regulations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
