Position Overview
The Field Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing personnel across multiple regions as they execute two primary tasks:
- Assess, segregate, package, and document diverse categories of hazardous waste.
- Assess, segregate, package, and document various forms of pharmaceutical waste.
- Oversee the daily operations of Environmental Technicians working both on-site and within facilities.
- Collaborate with the sales team to conduct site evaluations and prepare cost estimates.
- Perform regular quality assurance inspections at client locations, addressing and preventing any issues.
- Ensure all necessary documentation is complete and accurate to comply with state, federal, EPA, DOT, and DEA regulations, as well as any customer-specific requirements.
- Monitor staff performance against established benchmarks (such as daily service stops) and implement corrective measures as needed.
- Conduct weekly team meetings to provide updates and address any emerging concerns.
- Assist in the creation and revision of field Standard Operating Procedures to promote best practices among all Field Services personnel.
- Recruit, train, mentor, counsel, motivate, and, when necessary, terminate team members. Participate in the annual goal-setting and performance review process, making compensation recommendations accordingly.
- Develop training resources and ensure effective delivery of training sessions.
- Provide regular and ad-hoc reporting to management.
- Support Sales with inspections of retail and distribution centers, acting as a liaison between Sales, Office Operations, and Field Services.
- Manage exceptions in the field and resolve unique challenges.
- Assume responsibility for controlled pharmaceuticals on behalf of The Ladders.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by management.
Essential Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- A minimum of five years of experience in lab packing, pharmaceutical waste segregation, chemical service, or as a commercial driver.
- Experience in hazardous waste processing.
- At least two years of experience in field management.
- Willingness to take ownership of controlled pharmaceuticals on behalf of The Ladders.
- Ability to accurately classify controlled substances according to DEA guidelines.
- Familiarity with RCRA, DOT, and DEA regulations related to waste characterization and hazardous waste transportation.
- Proficiency in computer software applications, including the MS Office Suite.
- Willingness and ability to travel by car and commercial airline up to 25%, with occasional overnight travel.
- Ability to regularly access and utilize general office equipment, including phones, computers, and copiers.
- Capability to work in a dynamic, often distracting environment that is generally climate-controlled.
