Role Summary
As a Clinical Specimen Technician, you will play a crucial role in our laboratory operations, facilitating the effective processing, documentation, and communication of specimen-related information. This position is primarily stationary, where you will collect specimens at designated facilities, input data into our laboratory information system, and address inquiries from both patients and laboratory personnel, serving as a vital communication link.
This role is ideal for individuals who have recently obtained their phlebotomy certification or similar qualifications and are enthusiastic about launching their careers in this domain.
Work Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect specimens from patients at partner facilities.
- Accurately enter patient and specimen data into the laboratory information system (LIS).
- Verify and label specimens appropriately.
- Ensure the proper handling, storage, and processing of specimens.
- Maintain detailed records and documentation.
- Provide information and answer questions for patients and laboratory staff.
- Act as a communication bridge between patients and the laboratory.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and compassionate care to patients.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
- Assist with the setup of IT equipment at new partner locations by coordinating with the IT team and regional phlebotomy manager.
- Introduce yourself to key staff on-site and troubleshoot any equipment issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred certification in Phlebotomy, CNA, Med Tech, or a related field (newly certified candidates are encouraged to apply).
- Experience in specimen collection and data entry is preferred.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with keen attention to detail.
- Dependable with a strong work ethic and punctuality.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service abilities.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
Additional Information:
- Hourly pay range: $17-20 per hour
- Work location: Onsite
