Job Summary

Smith College seeks a highly skilled Financial Reporting and Compliance Specialist to join its Controller's Office. This key role will manage financial reporting, tax compliance, and general accounting functions, ensuring timely and accurate financial information. The ideal candidate will have advanced accounting knowledge, non-profit financial reporting experience, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger closing process, creating timely and accurate financial information.
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage the preparation and timely filing of federal, state, and local tax filings and informational requests.
  • Oversee the unclaimed property process and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Provide guidance and training to departments on financial systems and accounting matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced accounting knowledge, non-profit financial reporting experience, and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and analytical approach.
