Battelle's Advanced Materials and Energetics Group is seeking a highly skilled Materials Scientist/Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting laboratory experimentation, data compilation and analysis, and literature searches under the guidance of a senior scientist.
Responsibilities- Conduct background research and analyze data to prepare product, process, or materials specifications.
- Develop, construct, and execute laboratory experiments to test hypotheses and gather data.
- Assist in the interpretation of results and compose sections of technical reports.
- Complete assigned project work within schedule and budget constraints.
- Conduct basic engineering analysis of data collected and perform structured work assignments.
- B.S. degree in Materials Science and Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
- 0-2 years of relevant work experience.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Candidates may be requested to submit to a background check for obtaining clearances for classified government projects.
- Develop and contextually present information from numerous technical resources to support research objectives.
- Research experience in a materials science, chemistry or chemical engineering setting to include experience with chemical handling.
- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, and follow instructions.
- Experience in engineering model development.
- Experience in working with structured databases for data archiving.
- Experience in computer aided design software.
- Experience using computer programming to analyze complex data sets (ex: Python, Matlab).
