JOB SUMMARY:


The Cashier is responsible for operating the cash register and check-stand with efficiency and courtesy, adhering to all front-end procedures and company policies. This role is crucial in ensuring customer satisfaction through prompt and friendly service.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1) Accurately and efficiently scan grocery orders.

2) Identify departments and modifiers that do not scan correctly.

3) Utilize effective scanning and bagging techniques for optimal efficiency, accommodating customer preferences.

4) Securely manage the cash drawer, counting it before each shift.

5) Accurately handle various payment methods, following company policies for accountability and cash control.

6) Follow proper void procedures as necessary.

7) Identify produce items accurately and input their respective lookup codes.

8) Enforce security measures regarding shoplifting and associate purchases.

9) Understand proper store supply protocols.

10) Be knowledgeable about weekly promotions and featured items.

11) Provide exceptional customer service by greeting and thanking customers appropriately.

12) Adhere to all company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1) Assist with general cleanliness in the front-end area.

2) Help with stocking shelves or facing the store when needed.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1) Dexterity in hands for scanning and keying groceries is essential.

2) Strong communication skills are necessary for providing excellent customer service.

3) Proficient mathematical skills are required for operating the registers.


4) Ability to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds up to forty percent (40%) of the time.

5) Must be able to stand for the majority of the scheduled work shift.

Note: Availability to work most Friday and Saturday nights is required for this position.
