Job Overview

Purpose of the Role:

The Manager of Advanced Product Engineering will spearhead BRS pre-production initiatives by aligning material capabilities, qualifications, and selection with automotive OEM and Tier 1 clientele. This role will direct BRS's efforts in identifying prospective requirements based on market usage and application trends. The Manager will assess, prioritize, and cultivate product and application prospects, effectively implementing these solutions for the client. This position will strategically coordinate these efforts with the BRS commercial and product development teams to position BRS for optimal market success.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Comprehend Health, Safety, Environmental, ResponsibleSteel, and Quality programs while formulating or executing strategies to address issues and their integration into the business plan.
2) Familiarity with ResponsibleSteel standards for minimizing environmental impacts and energy consumption, addressing local community and stakeholder concerns, and/or preserving diversity.
3) Oversee, develop, and prioritize the OEM/Tier 1 team to facilitate product and application advancements, initiate and finalize design projects, and promote BRS advanced automotive products in production vehicles.
4) Collaborate closely with the customer's Materials Engineering, Product Design, Release Engineering, and Sourcing teams to endorse the use of BRS products in automotive applications.
5) Assist in the exploration, identification, and definition of new or enhanced products and/or revenue prospects.
6) Organize technology exchange meetings between BRS and our clients to foster understanding and utilization of BRS products.
7) Manage the execution of future roadmaps for grade/product development to guide research and development activities and lead trial initiatives of new products across all BRS facilities.
8) Collaborate with BRS Product Development and other stakeholders to refine product designs.
9) Remain informed about customer-specific issues, trends, and developments pertinent to product development or evaluating product design opportunities.
10) Act as a representative for commercial and technical discussions with customers.
11) Partner with Product Managers and commercial managers to evaluate how potential new product opportunities align with the overall product strategy.
12) Willingness to travel domestically and internationally 50% or more of the time.

Qualifications:

1) Bachelor's degree in mechanical or material science engineering or a related engineering field with a minimum of eight years of experience, or a master's degree with at least six years of proven experience in automotive Body in-White (BIW), Closures, and Chassis development and implementation into product applications with a strong business case development focus.
2) Solid understanding of sheet metal forming principles, HSS, and AHSS materials commonly utilized in current applications, with the ability to recommend material alternatives based on application and product geometry.
3) Experience with automotive OEM material specifications is preferred.
4) Outstanding communication, collaboration, and leadership skills are essential, with the capability to engage with various levels of customer and corporate management to ensure successful implementation.
5) Proficiency in using and navigating common business software packages.
6) Proven track record of developing innovative automotive solutions.

Working Conditions:

This is a remote position requiring a flexible schedule. Hours may include overtime, nights, and weekends, as well as travel with little or no advance notice. The role necessitates the ability to work in varying manufacturing environments.
