Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented EAF Utility, BRS to join our team at Big River Steel. As an EAF Utility, BRS, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our Electric Arc Furnace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure Safety and Quality: Prioritize safety and quality requirements in all aspects of your work, adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Operate Equipment: Safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts, and maintain good housekeeping practices in the job area and grounds.
  • Assist with Daily Operations: Support the 1st Helper and 2nd Helper with daily operations of the furnace, including maintenance repairs and ensuring an adequate supply of stick to operate during shifts.
  • Support Other Departments: Collaborate with other departments as needed to strengthen BRS profitability and continual improvement efforts.
Requirements
  • Quality and Safety Orientation: Demonstrate a strong commitment to quality and safety, with a mechanical aptitude and self-motivation.
  • Team Dynamics and Communication: Possess good insight into team dynamics and strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently.
  • Education and Experience: Hold a High School diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 1 year of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment, and preferably related experience.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

The work environment is typical for a steel mill production area, with extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and dusty/greasy areas. Physically demanding work will be required, with the ability to routinely lift and move heavy objects during shifts.
