Job Summary

The Assistant General Manager is a key member of the Courtyard Morgan Hill team, responsible for driving hotel profitability through revenue generation, cost control, and guest satisfaction. This role requires a strong leader who can motivate and develop employees, while maintaining the integrity of the hotel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Revenue Generation: Play a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts, including calling on top clients, meeting with on-site contacts, and hosting events.
  • Cost Control: Tour operating departments daily, making adjustments as needed, and conduct weekly staff meetings to review sales and operations efforts.
  • Guest Satisfaction: Ensure that all employees provide attentive, friendly, courteous, and efficient service to guests.
  • Employee Development: Develop managers for future advancement through competency training and corporate-sponsored training programs.
  • Financial Management: Meet all financial review dates and corporate-directed programs in a timely fashion, and hold monthly financial reviews with department managers.
  • Hotel Operations: Ensure that all department heads maintain budgeted productivity levels and Highgate Hotel standard checkbook accounting procedures.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure that all procedures for handling the hotel safe are followed, and conduct monthly safe audits.
  • Credit and Collection: Take an active role in the hotel credit and collection policies, and conduct monthly credit meetings.
Requirements
  • Experience: At least 5-6 years of progressive experience in a hotel, with a Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop employees.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills, with the ability to communicate with all levels of employees and guests.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to anticipate, prevent, identify, and solve problems as necessary.
  • Confidentiality: Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Physical Demands: Light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
