Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Analyst to join our Global Indirect Tax Team at Expedia Group. As a Tax Analyst, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of our compliance obligations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, prepare, and review various state and local U.S. indirect gross receipt-based tax returns utilizing technology solutions such as Alteryx and Tableau to effectively manage large compliance data sets.
  • Assist with various state and local U.S filing obligations such as sales and lodging, use, property tax and unclaimed property as needed.
  • Collaborate with other business groups to understand the tax impact of business operations and ensure proper indirect tax obligations are addressed.
  • Perform research and analysis and apply applicable laws to Expedia Group's indirect tax obligations. Communicate and implement findings and resolutions with various internal and external partners.
  • Contribute to indirect tax project work as required on a variety of business advisory, financial reporting, transactional tax data, and tax research and analysis projects.
Requirements
  • BA/BS degree in accounting or related field.
  • 1+ years of tax experience in a corporate tax department or public accounting firm.
  • CPA license or actively working towards attainment.
  • Masters in tax or accounting is a plus, but not required.
  • Possess or the desire to gain knowledge of basic indirect tax rules and concepts with the ability to apply it to the various compliance processes.
  • Excellent researcher and problem-solver, able to analyze, compare, evaluate, and reconcile tax data and learn from it.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis in managing large data sets in Excel.
  • Experience or a desire to learn basic SQL and automation tools such as Alteryx, Tableau and UIPath.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to explain tax concepts to individuals who do not possess knowledge of tax compliance matters.
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks within a restrictive due date delivery timeframe.
  • Self-starter and diligent problem solver.
  • Strong team player willing to assist where needed.

  • Have ability and willingness to accept internal and external feedback and change course of action.
