Pediatric Nursing Specialist

Schedule: Monday through Friday, Day Shift
Work Environment: Onsite
Overview:
The role involves delivering nursing care and providing guidance on clinical matters, working closely with physicians at the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborates with the medical team to enhance operational efficiency and ensure high-quality care and exceptional service for pediatric patients through a team-oriented approach.
2. Takes on the responsibility of mentoring new staff and serving as a resource for clinical personnel.
3. Conducts patient assessments as necessary.
4. Engages in the creation of educational programs for all staff members concerning clinical topics.
5. Evaluates clinical competency and contributes to the assessment process for clinical staff during initial and annual evaluations.
6. Regularly interacts with patients and their families, advocating for children's health maintenance and fostering a positive public image in all engagements.
7. Exhibits the knowledge and skills essential for addressing the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of patients across all age groups.
8. Provides consultations and requests additional consultations as needed, adhering to hospital regulations and assisting with discharge planning.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Technical Skills:
1. Proven ability to lead, guide, and motivate team members, emphasizing collaboration to deliver quality service to patients and their families.
2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
3. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills are required.
4. Organizational skills are critical for success in this role.
5. Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and efficiently under pressure.
6. Experience interacting with various organizational levels is necessary.
7. Background in pediatric outpatient care is preferred.
8. Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or similar software is required.
9. Familiarity with electronic medical record systems (e.g., EPIC) is preferred.
Qualifications:
1. Education: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is mandatory. Candidates without a BSN must obtain this degree within five years of hire.
2. Current certification in Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association is required.
3. A valid and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Ohio is essential. A Multistate License (MSL) is required within 90 days for departments providing telenursing services or care to patients outside Ohio.
4. Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant nursing experience is preferred.
5. Supervisory Experience: Not required.
