Job Summary

The Patient Account Representative for Riccobene Associates Family Dentistry plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and complete collection of fees from patients and insurance companies. This position requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to interpret Explanation of Benefits statements and reconcile postings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain Explanation of Benefits statements from insurance companies to reconcile with daily bank postings.
  • Post insurance checks and EFT payments within various practice management systems (PMS) to the specific provider.
  • Submit daily insurance claims and identify patients with past due balances.
  • Generate statements, phone calls, past due letters, or collection notices in accordance with company policy to collect outstanding balances.
  • Review insurance denials and reprocess with amended supporting documentation.
  • Process patient and insurance refund requests.
  • Audit patient accounts to determine accuracy of credits and balances.
Requirements
  • Previous collections experience.
  • Preferred 3-5 years of dental collections experience.
  • Computer proficiency, including Outlook, Excel, and Word, and the ability to learn new programs.
  • Organized approach to workload with proper prioritization and follow-through.
  • Able to accurately interpret Explanation of Benefits statements (EOB's).
  • Ability to demonstrate independent thinking and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to demonstrate a teamwork approach to job responsibilities.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, dependability, and promptness.
  • Able to investigate, analyze, and reconcile postings and EOB's.
  • Able to perform frequent repetitive work with attention to detail.
  • Able to exercise confidentiality with patients and patient care.
  • Able to listen attentively for clarification to ensure necessary outcomes.
Language and Reasoning Abilities
  • Effectively communicate with patients and insurance companies to collect outstanding balances.
  • Communicate both verbally and through patient screen notes with both front desk and clinical staff as needed.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals, and written correspondence.
  • Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality as per company policy.
