Job Overview

The Cashier plays a vital role in managing transactions related to the sale and return of products.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Customer Engagement
  • Represent Westlake Ace Hardware positively at all times.
  • Welcome customers as they enter and exit the store, acknowledging them by name when possible.
  • Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor while assisting customers and collaborating with team members.
  • Efficiently manage customer checkout lines to ensure quick service.
  • Promptly and courteously respond to phone calls and pages.
  • Report any issues requiring management intervention.
  • Continuously enhance product knowledge to assist customers effectively.
  • Support in pricing, stocking, and bagging merchandise.
Cash Register Operations
  • Adhere to all procedures for cash register transactions.
  • Responsible for the accurate balancing of the cash drawer.
  • Implement any Store Support Center programs or promotions at the registers.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
Store Appearance and Maintenance
  • Ensure the checkout areas and entrance are tidy and well-organized.
  • Assist in maintaining stocked and organized impulse counters.
  • Keep promotional materials readily available in shopping carts.
  • Ensure that necessary forms and supplies are always stocked.
  • Contribute to the aesthetic presentation of the front end in line with Store Support Center guidelines.
  • Request cart pickups as needed.
  • Notify management when returns need to be processed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Previous cashier or customer service experience is preferred.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 25 lbs), and climb as needed.
Compensation

Hourly wage ranges from $12.00 to $14.00.
