Job Summary

The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and managing the flow of goods, services, and information from point of origin to point of consumption. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with international logistics service providers, customs house brokers, and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate import and export logistics activities via ocean, air, and truck with multiple carriers from point of pickup to point of delivery.
  • Proactively monitor import and export shipments from booking through delivery by tracking, maintaining records, and providing problem resolution as needed.
  • Investigate problems, find root causes, and develop solutions to improve logistics processes and reduce costs.
  • Assess the effectiveness of current global logistics and/or transportation processes, determine improvements, and coordinate institutionalized change.
  • Provide analytical support for projects, new business opportunities, and proposals by assembling data, analyzing performance, identifying problems, and developing recommendations.
  • Ensure transport capacity for production facilities and/or distribution centers by monitoring contract compliance of carriers and other global logistics service providers.
  • Develop standard operating procedures and performance standards to improve logistics efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and communicate global logistics issues between logistics service providers, Inside Sales, and Outside Sales to ensure seamless execution of logistics operations.
  • Evaluate global logistics service providers and mill shipping performance on a continual basis to ensure adherence to performance standards.
  • Create and publish reports on the performance of logistics operations to inform business decisions and drive improvement.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Studies, or equivalent job-related experience.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with familiarity with logistics and production planning concepts (e.g., just-in-time, materials requirement planning).
  • Ability to work independently and possess the ability and desire to work effectively, with attention to detail, to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Broad range of computer skills, including database, spreadsheet, statistics applications, and logistics software packages, as well as a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of transportation contracts and tariffs.
  • Ability to communicate findings, make recommendations, and facilitate change.
  • Comfortable working with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Project management skills.
