The ISSO will engage in a range of Information Assurance responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Developing and enforcing the security framework and policies for designated Information Systems.
  • Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of system operations, security protocols, technical safeguards, and operational security practices.
  • Monitoring system resources for alerts regarding vulnerabilities or active threats and reporting findings to the ISSM.
  • Providing necessary inputs to the ISSM to support the Risk Management Framework (RMF) Body of Evidence documentation.
  • Assisting the ISSM with the Security Controls Assessment as required.
  • Collaborating with the ISSM in the preparation of the Security Assessment Report.
  • Contributing to the Plan of Action and Milestones documentation, detailing required resources, completion timelines, and milestone adjustments.
  • Executing the Continuous Monitoring Plan and documenting outcomes, sharing results with the ISSM.
  • Reviewing and analyzing Audit Logs.
  • Conducting compliance and vulnerability assessments (e.g., ACAS, NESSUS, SCAP, STIG checks) to ensure system integrity and reporting findings to the ISSM.
Notify the ISSM of any modifications to the system that may impact authorization.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

A Bachelor's Degree coupled with one to three (1-3) years of experience in relevant information assurance or system administration roles is essential.

Certification at IAT II or IAT III level is required.

Alternatively, six (6) years of additional relevant experience or an Associate's Degree with four (4) years of additional experience may substitute for a Bachelor's Degree.

The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) environments.

An active DoD Top Secret clearance is mandatory for this position. Selected candidates may undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information.
