Lead IT Security Specialist

Position Overview: The selected candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Department of the Navy by addressing inquiries from higher review authorities related to cybersecurity aspects of submitted documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive operations and maintenance support, including system upgrades and security applications for servers, databases, and applications.
  • Administer both classified and unclassified operating systems, applications, databases, and web services for all systems and servers located in laboratories.
  • Oversee the management of routers, firewalls, switches, boundary authentication devices, and physical cable infrastructure.
  • Coordinate and delegate work assignments to team members, considering organizational priorities and individual capabilities.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and suitable for federal employment.
  • Participation in the direct deposit pay program is mandatory.
  • New hires will undergo an E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Must meet time-in-grade requirements if currently employed in federal service.
  • Obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to starting the position.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • At least one year of relevant experience in information technology, demonstrating competencies in attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem-solving.
  • Specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band or grade level, including monitoring systems/networks and resolving complex technical issues.
  • Experience in overseeing IT acquisition, deployment, and management across multiple networks.
  • Proven ability to provide technical support in cybersecurity and carry out supervisory duties effectively.

Additional Information: This position is part of the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program, and additional vacancies may be filled through this announcement. Candidates must meet all pre-employment requirements to retain their tentative offer.
