New Business Case Specialist

Alera Group is seeking a dedicated New Business Case Specialist to enhance our Employee Benefits division.

As a New Business Case Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include the meticulous review and processing of applications for group health plans provided to employers, both prior to and following submission to insurance carriers. You will collaborate closely with account executives, sales support, management, agents/brokers, and employer group representatives.
- Assess and qualify all new small business applications for submission to major medical carriers.
- Coordinate with in-house underwriting requirements alongside account executives, brokers, or groups.
- Submit applications to carriers and ensure timely follow-up for approvals.
- Engage with carriers to confirm the status of applications and address any additional requirements.
- Disseminate Notice of Approval to account executives, brokers, and/or groups.
- Provide assistance to account executives, brokers/agents, and sales managers as necessary.
- Generate quotes within the carrier system and confirm the accuracy of the sold rates.
- Process and enter/upload groups using various proprietary systems from carriers.
- Stay updated on current carrier promotions and educate account executives, brokers, and groups accordingly.
- Work collaboratively with account executives to propose options and solutions for unique cases utilizing industry and carrier insights.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with carrier underwriters.
- Prioritize urgent cases effectively and meet deadlines, especially during peak periods.
- Regularly review and ensure the accuracy of applications and employer documents stored in our system.
- Analyze carrier audit reports to ensure future submissions meet clean and complete requirements.
- Prior experience in Small Business Group Underwriting is preferred.
- Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines and respond promptly to inquiries.
- Collaborate effectively with all stakeholders to secure approvals and meet timelines.
- Competence in managing multiple projects simultaneously is advantageous.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong prioritization abilities.
- Proficient in internet research for case-related inquiries.
