Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Certified Phlebotomy Technician to join our team at Sutter Health. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for collecting blood specimens, receiving, handling, and processing specimens for laboratory testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood specimens from patients of diverse ages, backgrounds, values, beliefs, and behaviors.
  • Receive, sort, and accession specimens, assigning them to appropriate pre-analytic and analytic workflow.
  • Complete computerized tasks related to patient registration and/or test order entry, specimen collection, receiving, and processing.
  • Perform basic post-analytic tasks, including distributing reports, storing, and/or retrieving specimens.
  • Complete quality-related tasks, such as documentation of work, maintaining a clean, stocked, and safe work area, and monitoring pending work, as well as escalating priority work.
  • Operate and/or use basic pre-analytic lab equipment.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • CA Licensed Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) I or equivalent
  • 1-year recent relevant experience
  • Knowledge and practice of standard principles, processes, procedures, and equipment related to ordering laboratory testing, collecting blood specimens, compassionately and effectively interacting with patients, handling and processing biological specimens routinely submitted to the laboratory for analysis
  • Ability to accurately, precisely, and reliably perform job duties and assigned tasks
  • Ability to organize and prioritize job duties and assigned tasks for completion within expected timeframes
  • Ability to compassionately and effectively interact with patients of diverse ages, backgrounds, values, beliefs, and behaviors
Working Conditions

This is a part-time position with a variable schedule, including every other weekend. The pay range for this role is $30.31 to $37.89 per hour.
