Patient Care Monitor

Overview:
The Patient Sitter is tasked with overseeing designated patients within the healthcare facility. This role may involve assisting with meals and notifying staff of patients' requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional, the Patient Sitter provides monitoring services for patients requiring 1:1 attention.
The individual in this role is responsible for ensuring the patient remains in a secure environment at all times.
The Patient Sitter will alert the nursing staff if the patient attempts to leave their bed, manipulate medical equipment, or exhibit any behavior that could endanger themselves or others.
This position may also involve assisting with basic patient care tasks under the guidance of a licensed professional, including turning, feeding, bathing, and addressing bathroom needs.
For patients at risk of self-harm, the Patient Sitter must maintain constant visual contact, including during toileting.
Additionally, the Patient Sitter is expected to communicate effectively with the patient care team, including nurses and nursing assistants, by receiving updates on the patient's condition and care plan at the start of the shift and providing handover reports before concluding their duties.
The Patient Sitter must accompany patients during off-unit procedures and is not permitted to take patients to smoke or visit common areas.
