The City of Glasgow is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Law Enforcement Officer to join our team. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting the community, and upholding the law.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct traffic stops to investigate, cite, or arrest individuals.
- Transport prisoners and search crime scenes for physical evidence.
- Interview suspicious individuals and physically restrain those who are not under arrest.
- Observe traffic and pedestrians for law violations and direct traffic at accidents and crime scenes.
- Issue warnings to offenders and locate witnesses to crimes or accidents.
- Patrol assigned areas on foot and operate police vehicles.
- Complete reports and mediate family disputes.
- Investigate traffic accidents and recover and inventory stolen property.
- Skilled in the use and care of firearms and perform related work as required.
- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent (GED).
- Successful completion of required law enforcement training (DOCJT).
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be a United States citizen.
- Must not have been convicted of a felony.
- Ability to pass a physical examination and a physical agility test.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test.
- Possesses skills in officer survival and exhibits pride and integrity.
- Ability to act quickly and calmly in emergency situations and be professional and discrete.
- Skilled in arrest control techniques and able to listen well and be objective and fair.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and the general public.
- Skilled in vehicle operation and able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Knowledge of human behavior and rules and regulations of the Police Department.
- Skilled in the use and care of firearms and good physical condition.
