The Lead Financial Analyst will oversee the preparation of financial reports with necessary disclosures, applying fundamental aspects of GAAP as required, and documenting, validating, testing, and evaluating various control frameworks. This role may also engage in reviews and agreed-upon procedure assignments.
Key Responsibilities
Control Framework
· Utilizes knowledge and insight into the collective impact of various elements on establishing or enhancing effectiveness, or mitigating risks, of specific policies and procedures by:
o Identifying and considering all relevant policies, laws, regulations, and guidelines of the firm, regulatory bodies, or other authoritative entities as part of the engagement team.
o Making constructive recommendations to enhance client internal controls and accounting practices.
o Documenting and validating the operational effectiveness of the clients' internal control framework.
GAAP Compliance
· Applies knowledge and understanding of governing principles; implementing these principles to client transactions; and documenting and communicating an understanding and application of these principles by:
o Supporting conclusions with authoritative references.
o Drafting fundamental sets of financial statements with necessary disclosures.
o Researching intermediate accounting areas and forming an initial opinion on the appropriate treatment independently.
GAAS Standards
· Applies knowledge and understanding of professional standards; implementing the principles contained in professional standards; and the ability to document and communicate an understanding and application of professional standards on an engagement by:
o Developing and applying an intermediate understanding of auditing theory, maintaining a sense of audit skepticism, and utilizing BKC audit manuals.
o Applying auditing theory to various client scenarios.
o Documenting in accordance with BKC policy, identifying deviations, and notifying senior team members to obtain necessary approvals.
o Applying knowledge to identify instances where testing may be reduced or expanded and informing senior team members of such occurrences.
o Contributing ideas and opinions to the engagement teams.
Methodological Approach
· Applies knowledge and application of BKC standards to ensure effective and efficient delivery of quality services and products by:
o Completing all necessary documentation of BKC work papers.
o Ensuring assigned tasks are performed in accordance with BKC methodology and requirements.
Research Skills
· Applies methodology to seek or maintain information from authoritative sources and to draw conclusions regarding a target issue based on the information by:
o Researching basic and intermediate accounting topics and forming an initial opinion on the treatment independently.
