Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Board-Certified Infectious Disease Physician to join our team at the Memphis, Tennessee Veteran Affairs Medical Center (VAMC). As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, clinical leadership, and education to our veteran patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical assessment and evaluation of assigned veteran patients with acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies, consultations, referrals, and patient follow-up.
  • Participate in clinical research and patient/family/staff education and counseling.
  • Supervise and teach fellows, residents, and medical students in the specialties of Infectious Disease/Internal Medicine.
  • Participate in subspecialty committees, including Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy (OPAT), Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), and Antibiotic Stewardship Program (ASP).
  • Provide consultation on various forms of infectious diseases, both diagnosis and treatment for inpatient and outpatient settings.
Requirements
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States or District of Columbia.
  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
  • Meet requirements for academic appointment at affiliate, University of TN Health Science Center.
  • Clinical practice, supervising and teaching fellows, residents, and medical students in the specialties of Infectious Disease/Internal Medicine.
  • Possess the skillset to teach/train residents in Antibiotic Stewardship.
  • Participate in appropriate subspecialty committees.
  • Provide consultation on various forms of infectious diseases.
  • Assist with outpatient telehealth clinic with VVC appointments and face-to-face.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Be proficient in the written and spoken use of the English language.
  • US Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.

  • Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm with occasional call.
