Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Board-Certified Infectious Disease Physician to join our team at the Memphis, Tennessee Veteran Affairs Medical Center. As a dual academic appointment holder with the University of Tennessee, you will have the opportunity to engage in clinical research, patient education, and teaching.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical assessment and evaluation of assigned veteran patients with acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies, and consult with other healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Develop and implement healthcare management plans for patients with infectious diseases.
  • Participate in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives related to infectious disease management.
  • Teach and supervise fellows, residents, and medical students in the specialties of Infectious Disease and Internal Medicine.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement antibiotic stewardship programs.
  • Provide consultation on various forms of infectious diseases, both diagnosis and treatment, for inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Assist with outpatient telehealth clinic with VVC appointments and face-to-face consultations.
  • Meet the requirements for academic appointment at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
Requirements
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States or District of Columbia.
  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine.
  • Meet the requirements for academic appointment at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Proficient in the written and spoken use of the English language.
  • US Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
